My Goals
My name is Hawa Elmoge, and I am a high
school student trying to achieve my goals. One of my biggest goal is to graduate from high school no matter how challenging
it is. After I graduate from high school I would like to go to college and after I graduate from college I want to become
a professional soccer player.
I
know to reach these goals is not easy but I will do my best to reach my goals. I need to work
hard to reach my goals. It is just a matter of time and working hard. Since I am new to this country and I didn’t get
the chance to start schooling from kindergarten, but I will work hard to graduate from high school and go to college.
I love playing soccer and I will do a lot of practices to become a good soccer player. Becoming a professional soccer
player is not that easy, but as they said “practice practice makes you perfect”. I will practice
every time to become a perfect soccer player. I have joined the girls’ soccer team last year and we do soccer practice
every time the weather is good.
I would encourage all girls to participate soccer activities, because we can do it like the other people. I
will also encourage you to do well in school. Without education everything will be complicated, education is the key to everything.
There is a Somali proverb you all know which says “A qoon la’aan
waa iftiin la’aan” which means without education is without light.
I know the challenges we are facing here like the new culture,
the language barrier, but we can all become successful if we work hard.
I would like to thank the Somali Bantu Youth
Association of Maine for letting me share my goals with my friends.
